BROOKLYN, NY – June 2, 2020 – ICS stands in solidarity with all people of good faith who refuse to be silent in the face of racism, and the violence, injustice and inequality it spawns.

ICS members, many of whom are of people of color with disabilities living with low incomes, directly experience the poor health outcomes that come from the racial and economic inequity baked into our health care system.  The COVID-19 pandemic has shone a bright light on the failure to build a more inclusive, accessible system for our members.

We see the current demonstrations of anger and frustration as the result of voices ignored and meaningful change snuffed out over too many years to count. Even while our hearts are broken, we must turn to each other to heal our nation. This will require the utmost honesty and integrity on the part of our leaders and of each of us as individuals. This is our task and we must not shrink from it.
