Our work rests on three pillars – health, mobility, and community. Together these form a strong foundation for collaborating with our members to improve their social determinants of health, including economic factors, housing, education, nutrition, social context, and access to healthcare. This collaboration, in turn, enhances our members’ independence and vastly improves their lives. ICS staff serve as members’ advocates and coaches, coordinate their healthcare services, and help them set and meet personal goals.
Our members are people who have spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, osteoarthritis, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, and other disabilities. Our members range from 18 to 103. More than two-thirds of ICS members (69 percent) are people of color.
